Redington Road

Hampstead, London

The site of the house is located within the Hampstead Conservation Area. The original house was demolished down to basement level and the new structure built off the existing basement walls within the footprint of the existing structure.

The external walls are clad in a Sto Render system on a timber frame insulated with sheep wool. All timber used in the house is either recycled or Forest Stewardship Certified. The main feature is the patinated copper clad barrel roof which provides an additional floor without significantly increasing the height of the building. Internally a helical staircase connects all the principal rooms of the house which is expressed through the glazing of the street elevation.

All rooms have underfloor heating and a solar heat collector panel provides pre-heated hot water to reduce energy costs.
